COAST TO COAST FOR HAND IN HAND
Biking across America for African Orphan Kids

Join us on a 40-day, cross-country biking adventure for Hand in Hand orphan classes! That’s one day of riding for each Hand in Hand (HnH) orphan school in the Central African Republic.

Barb & Judi on an earlier long-ride. While “Coast to Coast” isn’t their first “rodeo”, it is definitely their most ambitious!

The WHAT & WHEN
HnH Director Barb Wooler and HnH supporter Judi Orme will tag-team ride (take turns riding and driving) their bikes across the full span of the USA. Day #1 (July 18) starts at Anacortes, WA. There they will dip their back wheels in the pacific and start their ride east through the Cascade and Rocky mountains, then on to the fruited plains and midwest, until finally reaching the east coast on Day #40 (August 29th), where they will dip their front wheels in the Atlantic.

The WHY?
To increase —

  • awareness for the plight of orphan kids in the Central African Republic and how Hand in Hand schools is giving thousands of orphans hope and a future.
  • support for these powerful village schools for the 2020-2021 school year.

Give as your heart leads, but here are some fun suggestions:

   A. Give based on two great HnH numbers: 40 (# of schools) or 1775 (# of students):

    • 40 schools:
      • $40 (one dollar per school)
      • $400 (ten dollars per school)
      • $4000 (100 dollar per school)
    • 1775 HnH students
      • $17.75 (one cent per student)
      • $175.50 (ten cents per student)
      • $1,775 (one dollar per student)

   B. Give based on the number of miles in our cross-country ride = 3,600 

    • $36.00 (one cent per mile)
    • $360.00 (ten cents per mile)
    • $3,600 (one dollar per mile)

   C. Give to fully fund one school for the 2020-2021 school year = $4,000

GO
Join our two riders during their July 18-August 29 ride by committing to do something great during those dates, such as:

  • follow their daily progress on their trek via their posts (email or Instagram or Facebook)
  • walk or bike 40 miles for HnH schools
  • read 40 chapters of the Bible
  • go on a 40-day/1,775 calorie diet (or choose the calorie limit best for you)
  • wash 40 cars (youth group) and donate the money for HnH schools
  • call 40 people (one per day) to encourage them (maybe pray with them)
  • Be creative! Whether you use our numbers (40, 1775, 3,600) or make up your own, we invite our HnH friends to show solidarity for HnH’s kids and our riders who are riding to raise awareness of and support for HnH schools.

HnH Parties
We will also be participating in HnH parties along the way in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania as the Lord and covid restrictions allow. More details to come.

So please join us, and spread the word so others can, too! African orphans will be the better for your prayers, earnestness, and giving*.
